Monitor The Strategy

No investment strategy works on autopilot. With the rapid degree of changes in the markets and at management firms, constant attention and oversight is required. Utilizing proprietary technology, LAMCO constantly reviews the factors which could impact the portfolio’s long-term results. When warranted, we initiate the dialogue so that decisions and adjustments can be made in a prudent and timely manner. Alternatively, at your request, LAMCO can assume a discretionary role and implement portfolio adjustments on your behalf. Portfolio information, along with recommendations for improvement, are summarized in regular Portfolio Evaluation Reports which are delivered at a frequency of your choosing. Among the areas addressed are:

  •
  • The overall performance of the portfolio compared to expectations.

  •
  • The portfolio’s actual structure versus the target structure. An “Exception Report” is prepared if the portfolio is approaching the predetermined tolerance limits and recommendations are made for portfolio adjustment. These recommendations, along with the expected impact on the portfolio structure, are reviewed with the client for approval and execution.

  • An evaluation of the portfolio’s investment managers to affirm that the thesis behind the selection of each manager remains intact. We look for:

        - Consistent, unexplained performance deterioration.
        - A deviation in philosophy, process, or personnel.
        - A deterioration in the business factors or firm franchise.

    Our Investment Beliefs:
    Re-Balancing The Portfolio

One of the most difficult decisions for an investor to make is the decision to reallocate assets from an outperforming investment manager (style) to an underperforming investment manager.  However, investors must remind themselves that portfolio volatility is increased when investors allow their winners to run.  We advocate regular portfolio rebalancing as part of the investment process.
